Wareboards : Boards for wares.

In a ceramics studio, wareboards are cheap pieces of plywood or scrap wood that hold in-progress works. The wood absorbs the water from the clay as it dries and makes it easier to transport work around the studio. After years of use the board peels, warps, rots, and falls apart beyond functional use. The weathered surfaces of these boards hold a history from the studio; they are a marker of process and progress. Here, they are repurposed into paintings. Traditional landscapes and natural scenes transform the worn surface of the wareboards. They sit on top of functional vessels, and are held up by the pots which they once held.
